 Equipment (also known as "Durable Medical Equipment") is usually covered by your loved one’s health plan. The most common equipment covered by health plans includes: wheelchairs, bedside/3-in-1 commodes, hospital beds and front wheel walkers. Of course, there are exceptions; to see if there are exceptions, call your loved one’s health plan member services. Furthermore, because health plans cover equipment based on Medicare guidelines, the following resource may be helpful:

 If your family member rents a home and has a medical condition or disability, they may have a legal right to install grab bars and lower countertops, or make other needed modifications if the modifications are necessary for their “full enjoyment of the premises”.
